Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000

 

Smith’s Group of Companies have made a commitment to adhere to the National Privacy Principles (NPP’s) as set out under the Guidelines to the National Privacy Principles established by the Privacy Commissioner. These principles are summarised below:

 

NPP1

Any collection of personal information will be collected only with that individuals consent and only for the purpose of carrying out our primary business.

 

NPP2

Any information collected during the course of business will only be used for the purpose of conducting our business and will not be disclosed to any third parties unless specific consent given.

 

NPP3

We will take reasonable steps to ensure information collected is accurate, complete and kept up to date.

 

NPP4

This organisation will take all reasonable steps to ensure protect all personal information from misuse and unauthorised access.

 

NPP5

This document shall be publicly displayed and available to anyone who requests it.  On request, this organisation will advise type, purpose, method of collection and use of personal information collected.

 

NPP6

Any personal information held by this organisation about an individual, will be made accessible to that individual upon request.  This information will be corrected if inaccurate, incomplete or out of date.

 

Access will be denied if it is unlawful to provide that information.

NPP7

This organisation will not use any Commonwealth agency “identifiers”.  This includes Medicare numbers, tax file numbers or pension numbers.  A person’s name or ABN are not identifiers.

 

NPP8

Where it is lawful and practicable, individuals have the option of not identifying themselves when entering into transactions with this organisation.

 

NPP9

This organisation will not transfer any personal information to any foreign organisation.

 

NPP10

Sensitive information will not be collected by this organisation unless:
